Right- brained or left?

Look at this picture and tell me if the figure is turning clockwise or counter-clockwise:

Can you make her turn the other way if you try hard enough?

Apparently, if you see her turning clockwise, then you are a right-brained thinker, according to this article from The [Australia] Herald Sun, although they don't give any explanation for that association. And if you see her turning counter-clockwise, then you are a left-brained thinker. And most people can apparently make her spin the other way if they try hard enough, or if they stare at the screen long enough.

In case you've forgotten, here are the qualities associated with right- and left-brainedness:

LEFT BRAIN FUNCTIONS
uses logic
detail oriented
facts rule
words and language
present and past
math and science
can comprehend
knowing
acknowledges
order/pattern perception
knows object name
reality based
forms strategies
practical
safe

RIGHT BRAIN FUNCTIONS
uses feeling
"big picture" oriented
imagination rules
symbols and images
present and future
philosophy & religion
can "get it" (i.e. meaning)
believes
appreciates
spatial perception
knows object function
fantasy based
presents possibilities
impetuous
risk taking

Aside from being occasionally fantasy-based (you know, thinking that I'm one day going to live in a mansion and be dictator of the world) and impetuous, I'm a pretty left-brained person by most accounts. And I cannot make that damn dancer spin the other way! Grrr.

Luckily, I shouldn't feel the need to base my entire life on this spinning girl. Scienceline explains the origin of the right- vs. left-brained theory and tells us that it's not so simple. It's essentially just an optical illusion. But I STILL can't make her spin counter-clockwise, DAMMIT!

The first time I looked, she was going counterclockwise, but now almost every time I look, she's clockwise. But twice, she's started counterclockwise and then seemed to stop and reverse. Weird...
