Who knew that Bill Maher and I would have a common love?

It's My Fair Lady.

It's just starting on TCM, and apparently they have guest programmers come in, and tonight's guest programmer is Bill Maher, and he chose My Fair Lady. He said it's his favorite musical (also mine!). He also said it's the only musical he has ever liked (not so for me). Then he compared musicals to porn -- completely unrealistic scenarios in which people break into an unbelievable activity (singing or sex) in the middle of otherwise-normal conversation. Ha.

He also said that while he's not an actor, he would act if he could be Henry Higgins. I am most definitely not an actress OR singer, but I have always said that the one part I would consider trying out for would be Eliza Doolittle. Let's hope the opportunity never comes, for your ears' and my dignity's sake.
