Being on a night schedule is craziness. I get home in the morning between 8 and 9, take a few minutes to eat some breakfast and watch something quick from the DVR, then go to sleep. I wake up around 4 or 4:30, take a shower, eat another quick snack, and head to work, which starts at 5:30 pm. Work ends between 8 and 8:30 the next morning, and it starts all over again.
The good news is that this week I pretty much completely converted to a night schedule. Wednesday night actually felt like a day shift, I was so awake.
I've done some cool stuff on L&D: Checked a few cervixes (but I need to check way way more), learned some ultrasounding, diagnosed a miscarriage (sad), put in an IUPC and fetal scalp probe, and some other cool stuff. My role isn't really 100% conducive to getting deliveries, but my goal is to get a few during this 4-week rotation.
Problem: I have literally done NOTHING else this week. I guess the weekend is for food shopping and cleaning the apartment.
This is totally Intro to Residency 101, and it's a tough transition.
