Two days later...

...slightly more information stuffed into my brain, but I'm afraid it's not enough. I still have more than 24 hours to go, though, and I know my short-term memory will prevail. However, I've already gotten annoyed with it, since I am now re-learning neurological pathways I learned back in October when we did Sidman and Sidman (workbooks for med students, yay!). And re-learning brainstem anatomy I learned in December and promptly forgot after the test. Dammit.

So even though there's plenty of time (relatively) and I'm feeling a little bit better now that I've figured out the mystery of the amino acid half-charge (only 50% ionized when pH = pK!), I'm worried about this weekend. Normally, if you have a test on a Friday, you don't worry about the weekend so much as you anticipate it with all of your heart and soul. However, I am taking my test all mushed up so that I can finish two hours early and hop on a plane to Aspen for a long-weekend leadership retreat. It's me, the pres and vice-pres of the 2nd- and 3rd-year classes, and the pres and vice-pres of the student senate. My vice-pres should be coming, but he backed out. Damn you, BJKellie. Anyway, by the time I go to bed tomorrow night, I need to be ready for the test the next morning, which is a hard enough goal to meet, but I also need to be packed for the long weekend, which entails doing laundry and going out to buy wool socks and skiing gloves. I really don't want to go shopping right now (I think this a first for me), but it has to be done. However, I'll do it with a timer and bring EscottC along so it doesn't take too long.

I also need to finish reading my leadership book, so I can give my book report when we get there. Oh yeah, our dean of students is taking us on the retreat and hosting us at her apartment (very cool!), but since it's a leadership retreat, we are actually going to be doing leadership stuff in between skiing during the day. So, I have Elizabeth I, CEO, and it's pretty good. It's broken up into little paragraphs highlighting each of the 100 (or so) points that made Queen Elizabeth a good leader, which is nice because I can read small sections at a time when I get a spare moment. But I'm still only about halfway through, so it looks like I'll be reading on the plane ride out there. I'll do a better review of it some other time.

Anyway, I'll be flying back here on Tuesday, which happens to be my birthday, and, for those of you looking at a calendar, Valentine's Day. Happy 25th to me! The first thing I'm going to do Wednesday (no classes in the morning!) is call my car insurance company. We'll see what Tuesday afternoon/evening have in store for me, although most of the celebrating might have to wait until next weekend.

So the next time I write, I will have taken a monstrous series of tests and gone to Aspen to (attempt to) ski and learn leadership skills and turned 25!
